Blue Room Content’s Mark Olsen is an independent director and digital content creator partnered with Blue Room Post. He directs and creates branded, commercial content for a variety of industries, with expertise in the capital markets. He has 25 years’ experience distilling complex ideas into concise, compelling stories.

He spent 15 years on the brand side, producing marketing materials and rich digital media as a creative writer-producer under contract with global investment manager Pimco. He launched the brand’s video practice from inception and developed the format, look and tone of its original, rich digital media content. He’s directed, written and produced material for dozens of live events, including conferences hosted in cities around the world, featuring financial personalities and well-known government policymakers. He has a strong grasp of macroeconomic, portfolio management and risk management fundamentals. During his time, the firm’s assets under management grew from $200b to $2 trillion.

He also has created content for Nuveen/TIAA, including major components of the firm’s online and print collateral as part of its rebrand into ESG and responsible investing. Other current and past accounts include American Funds, Green Street Advisors, Research Affiliates, CO-OP Financial, Allianz, Transamerica, Mutual of Omaha, First National Bank of Omaha/Kansas, Bank of Bellevue, Venbrook, Court Investment Services, SilverOak Investments, AnnuityScout.com, uMogul.com, Genesis, and Boeing.

In addition to directing, he can write, creative direct and produce all facets of rich digital media and post-production workflow. He has developed and leads a network of independent creative resources, including designers, motion graphics artists, editors, sound designers and composers.

Mark holds an M.A. in theater studies from the University of Leeds where he published an original one-act play, and an M.F.A. in film production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he received the Graduate and Professional Student Award, the highest non-academic award given to grad students. He is a quick, self-aware, creative thinker with enormous curiosity and enthusiasm for challenging himself, learning and improving. He’s also a servant-leader who is generous with his time and passionate about helping others.
